Rigs, inside Motion 5, allow you to group effects controls, called “parameters,” into on-screen controls that can be adjusted in Final Cut Pro X. This allows you to create an adjustable template in Motion that can be modified each time you use it inside Final Cut.

In this short video tutorial, host Larry Jordan, explains what you need to know to create rigs, the types of rigs available, how to create a widget, then illustrate how to create a text effect that allows you to modify that effect inside Final Cut Pro X using effects “snapshots.” It all sounds very complex, but once you understand it, you’ll find all kinds of uses for these controls in your own projects that can save you a ton of time.

NOTE: This technique applies to all versions of Motion 5.
