Topic: Multi-track Audio Filters and Output in Soundtrack Pro

This tutorial is part of our new HD-series of tutorials — containing larger, easier-to-read screens at 1280 x 800 resolution!

This is the fourth of an extended four-part series on creating and editing multi-channel audio interviews in Soundtrack Pro.

These tutorials make two assumptions: First, that you want to create an audio file for DVD, a podcast, or the web; because levels and procedures are different for broadcast and feature film projects. Second, that your source audio is reasonably clean. These tutorials don’t show how to do any audio repair or special effects. We just want to record the audio, edit it, make the levels consistent and the speech understandable, then output at high quality.

In Part 4: Filters and Output, Larry Jordan illustrates:

  • Applying filters
  • Configuring the Limiter filter to avoid distorting audio
  • Creating and applying filter presets
  • Changing filter processing order
  • Applying an EQ filter
  • Configuring the EQ filter for men or women
  • Using the Correlation Meter to test for compatible mono output
  • Outputting audio for the best quality
  • Brief discussion of compresion options

This training was created as part of a series of four titles teaching video editors how to use Soundtrack Pro to edit audio and improve the sound of their projects. The other titles in this series are:

This tutorial supports features found in Soundtrack Pro 2 and 3.
