SESSION DESCRIPTION

All NLEs today can edit video with professional results. The primary difference is in HOW they edit – the interface.

In the latest version (v17) of DaVinci Resolve, Blackmagic Design introduced the Cut Page, an interface designed for high-speed, fast-turnaround editing. More than just keyboard shortcuts, this page rethinks what editors need when deadlines are measured in minutes, rather than days.

This presentation shows how to:

  • Import media
  • Edit clips into the timeline
  • Trim clips
  • Apply transitions, titles and effects
  • Export the final project for the web or a master file

As you’ll discover, there are editing tools in the Cut page that don’t exist anywhere else.

Join Larry Jordan as he examines what this page can do and compares it with existing editing tools in both Apple Final Cut Pro and Adobe Premiere. This isn’t a case of replacing what you are using now. Rather this is an opportunity to discover a new tool that is optimized for fast turnaround editing.

AUDIENCE LEVEL

This is an introductory-level session. No knowledge of DaVinci Resolve is necessary, though a general knowledge of editing technology will be helpful.
