Dialog tells us what to think. Music tells us what to feel. And the timing of the music tells us when to feel it! Rather than concentrate on technology, this online training looks at the aesthetics of adding music to your scene.
In this training, host Larry Jordan uses two different scenes – one romantic and the other angry – to illustrate how different pieces of music affect the emotion of each scene. He illustrates how a complete score adds emotional continuity, while individual music “cues” can punctuate emotional “beats” in the scene.
Where should music be placed to emphasize emotions? How does different music affect the impact of a scene? How does the timing of the music cue enhance, or minimize, the emotion conveyed by an actor?
