FINAL CUT PRO X – CREATING CLIP EFFECTS

Final Cut Pro X is a radically different take on non-linear editing. With an interface that borrows more from iMovie than Final Cut Pro 7, Apple has presented video editors with a new way of thinking about editing and effects creation.

In this fourth of four sessions on FCP X, Larry shows how to create effects using a variety of filters and effects that are applied directly to a clip. This includes retiming (speed changes), chroma-keying (green-screen), color “looks”, transitions, and a selection of audio effects. Then, he concludes the presentation by showing how to export your project to get the highest possible quality from your edit.

There are over 400 effects, transitions, generators, titles, and other effects available inside FCP X. This session looks at each major effects category – Themes, Generators, Titles, Video filters, Audio filters, and Sound effects and shows you how they work. Along the way, Larry also explains how to work with keyframes, both in the Inspector and Timeline, and provides a cookbook of common effects.

Anyone interested in learning how the new software works will find something to like in this session. Whether you own Final Cut Pro X now, or are thinking about adding it to your toolkit, this session will show you specific techniques you can use today to improve the quality and variety of effects you can create with this software.
